Good times digging a hole
June 10, 2007
Yesterday Hayley, my father and I went and purchased a tree. But not just any tree, we purchases a Chestnut Tree that is about 15 ft tall and has a root ball on it that is 32 inches wide - its a big boy. Anyhow, the tree farm workers will be dropping it off either Tuesday or Wednesday so a hole needed to be dug for the tree to be plopped into, and I was the one chosen to do this wonderful job.

My hole
It has been a while since I last did any manual labor, but I think I held my own pretty well. The hole needed to be 40 inches wide and 2 feet deep, which is not really that big of a hole except for the fact that I was digging in clay... really hard subdivision clay, which was filled with bricks, wood, rocks and other hard small things that were in the way for every single plunge of my shovel or hoe. All complaining aside, I finished digging the hole in a few hours , got a bit of a sun burn, drank a lot of water and beer, and then went out for dinner with Hayley where I ate some spaghetti dish.

Good times...
Cheers,
Mike
