Two days till Christmas

December 23, 2006

Hey everyone so as you may have realized by now, there are only two days till Christmas - including today of course. So if you are like myself and have not really started your Christmas shopping, I suggest you get off of your computer (read my entry later) and go buy some things as fast as you can. Now the key to last minute shopping is to follow these simple steps:

  1. Upon arriving at a place of purchase (also known as a department store, super store, outlet store or just a mall) just park anywhere. It does not really matter where you park as long as you remember where you parked.
  2. When selecting that perfect gift use 80% gut feeling, 10% what the sales lady says, and 5% long serious thought - if at all possible.
  3. Pay with VISA or some other quick pay system that wont take the newbie cashier 10 minutes to count out you exact change - this is great since your in a rush.
  4. Try to find everything in one or two stores, or if your in a mall try to find everything you need there. This limits the amount of driving you will have to do, which could cause you to be stuck in a traffic jam.
  5. If you are stuck in a traffic jam on your way to the shopping destination of your choice and know you will be stuck for a while, call a friend or a store and try to get them to help you get a gift while you are stuck in traffic. Do this only in desperation, most sales people will not help you out.
  6. If you have 5 or more gifts to gather, wrapping these presents could pose a problem. So if the line up is small at the mall present wrapping station go there and get them to wrap your stuff. They will do a much better job of wrapping that you will (this is true in my case) and will get it done much quicker.
  7. If you did not do the above option, when you get home find anything that looks nice and colorful to use as wrapping paper and wrap like you have never wrapped before. I like using newspaper because there is always an abundance of this. Another suggestion would be to place a bow onto the present as it will add some much needed color.
  8. Now if your starting tomorrow at 5pm or something stupid like that I suggest that you save yourself from being overly stressed and get a gift certificate. I personally love these (especially if they are for BestBuy or Futureshop) as they let your receiver pick exactly what they wanted. Do not get one of these for your wife, husband, girlfriend, boyfriend or anyone who expects a little more thought put into your gift.
  9. As with any gift make sure it is accompanied by a nice card. I like getting funny cards or cards that have nothing to do with the holiday and personalize it. It makes both myself and the receiver laugh.

Now those are just some of the things you should think of or maybe start doing while you are out and about shopping for all your gifts.

Happy Shopping

Mike
