Campers at Futureshop

On my way into Futureshop in Newmarket today to see if they had the computer part that I needed in order to set up the PVR for my Dad so he is not completely bored all day for the next 4 months at home, I noticed that there were 5 guys sitting on lawn chairs with sleeping bags and other camping equipment at the entrance of the store. Now I know that the PS3 has already been released and that the rush for those systems have already calmed down but the Nintendo Wii is coming out tomorrow and I assume thats why these guys are camping out at the entrance all by themselves... which seems a little stupid seeing that there was no one else doing the same thing. The whole thing about guys and girls lining up for video game consoles seems a little overboard, I like playing games as much as any other person out there but I see no point in waiting in a fictional line for 2-3 days just to get a system that I am almost guaranteed still to get if I wait 2-3 days after the release date. Like who really cares who was the first to get the system and play a game? I see no real benefit to waiting in line for gaming consoles other than the joy of not being able to go into the store in order to go to the washroom in fear of loosing your spot in line. If these guys were smart they would have their systems already on ebay for sale with the hopes that they will make as much of a profit on their systems as the PS3 has made in the past few days on ebay, then with the cash they make on the sale of their first system they could go out and buy one Wii, PS3 and a XBOX 360 to complete the full gamer package. Thats just what I would do if I was a hardcore gamer - but I am not.
If you are a gamer who waited in line for a PS3, Wii or an XBOX 360, why did you do it? Did you do it to sell that system on ebay? Or did you do it to brag on your blog or to your friends? Why in the world would you wait outside a store without a port-a-potty, shower, change of clothes, or any other hygienic apparatuses at hand?
Good luck to all those hardcore gamers in line at electronic stores everywhere.

I hear the Wii is supposed to be pretty good but supply is just as low as the PS3 so I can understand why those guys were waiting in line. With the cost of these consoles lately though it's starting to get frigging ridiculous! Either that or I'm getting too cheap. The new ajax calendar is nice. I gotta show you some of the things we're tinkering with at work.
